Hill climbs are races generally held on paved, winding roads up a mountain. Events are run in a time trial format where cars are released from the bottom of the hill, race to the top then transit back down after all cars have made their pass. Races are high speed coupled with the technical, switchback style roads you see on any steep climb.
The fast pace of hill climbs require safety equipment (roll cage and fire suits, for example). Runs are timed and the competitor with the single fastest time in-class goes home with a trophy. There are competition classes for both cars and motorcycles each with their own sub-classifications. Note: not all hill climbs will be open to motorcycles so be sure to read the specific rules for each race.
