Rallycross Rules

New Competitor Guide

Rallycross Novice School

Getting started in Rallycross is about more than just learning to race. In this class, we first introduce competitors the basics of the sport – rules, reading cones, working the course and preparation. Then we move into car control and race technique with Dirtfish lead instructor, Nate Tennis. The first part of the day is spent in a classroom setting then we take what you have learned in class out onto the course. You will run through stations that are dissected course elements to give you the ability to practice with Dirtfish and MoDD instructor feedback. The day wraps up with a mini rallycross course where you can put all of the elements together. All in-car practice is in your own race vehicle.

Rallycross Advanced School

Open to competitors who have raced in 5+ rallycross events, have taken our novice class or another Dirtfish course, this class is designed to teach you advanced car control techniques and how to put multiple elements/skills together on race. This class has a short in-class portion to discuss the techniques and elements that will be practiced. The in-car portion of the class will give drivers the chance to practice complex elements with Dirtfish and MoDD instructor feedback. The class size is limited so that we can provide a higher instructor to student ratio and make sure you get plenty of coaching with these advanced skills. The day wraps up with a mini rallycross course where you can put all of the elements together. All in-car practice is in your own race vehicle.

Practice Session

Interested in getting a little time Dirtfish’s unique (and very well cared for) surface before race day? We’ll be opening up a practice session to give competitors a chance to get seat time on a mock course. Participants will be split into two groups for a standard run/work setup. Each group will get a 60 minute practice session where you can run as little or much as you like.

Rallycross Shakedown Hosted by Northwest Rally

This event is hosted by Northwest Rally Association.

It's time to dust off the cobwebs and get ready for the 2020 season. The Rallycross Shakedown is a day to get in some guided practice and then have shakedown time on a mock rallycross course.  If you are new to rallycross, this is a perfect way to get started.

To make sure everyone gets plenty of seat time, we'll be capping this event at 40 entries. Registration will open Thursday, January 2nd at 7pm. There will be a waiting list so even if you don't get in, it's still a good idea to sign up... Cancellations happen!

Guided Practice: The first part of the day will be a practice session where we will have exercises set up for you to practice your car control and techniques. Experienced competitors will be there to jump into cars and provide coaching, if you would like. This session will be for 90 minutes and you are allowed to run as much or as little as you like.

Shakedown Rallycross: The shakedown will have a small rallycross course where you can apply the techniques you worked on during the practice session and get some good seat time.  We will have timing set up so you can view your lap times but will not be publishing formal times after the event. You will be able to run as many laps as you like in the time allotted and you may also take breaks to make adjustments to your car.  The shakedown will be broken into two sessions and just like a normal rallycross event, you will run one session and work the other.

Event Schedule

7:30am: Gates open
8:30 - 9:30am: Tech inspection *you must pass tech in order to participate in any part of the day
9:30am: Driver meeting *required
